Course Description
The AHA’s Basic Life Support (BLS) course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threating emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Completion Requirements
Participants Must Provide
- A photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of education process and participates in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises.
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- Identify the AHA chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
- Demonstrate the importance of early AED use
- Identify the importance of team in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
- Perform the relief of foreign body-airway airway obstruction (choking) for adults and times
Suggested Audience
The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital setting.

Upon completion of this course participants will receive a BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
