Course Description

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response.  ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR and reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC)

Prerequisites

All students must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and achieve a score of at least 70% before taking the ACLS course.  Students must print their score report and bring it with them to the class.

Course Completion Requirements

Students are expected to have a general understanding of the basic EKG recognition.  

Participants Must Provide 

  • A photo identification on the first day of class.  See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.  

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of education process and participates in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises.  

Upon successful completion, you will be able to:

  • Provide basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED.
  • Recognize and manage respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognize and manage peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Manage acute coronary syndrome and stroke
  • Deliver effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team.
