Course Description

Please watch for course announcements regarding updated material release and registration re-opening. Law enforcement officers will be called upon to respond to and investigate a missing child or exploited child case. This online course outlines issues related to responding to and investigating missing and exploited children cases. Based on their role as a first responder, investigator, or supervisor, the officer will be able to determine specific steps to take upon receiving a report of a missing child while considering factors such as child history, individuals at the scene, evidence collection, search procedure, and/or available resources.

This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements Missing and Exploited Children Course #3275.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

  • The mandatory completion/duration period for this eCourse is 45 days from the registration date.
  • To complete this course, you are required to have a computer with internet access.

  • Missing children (reporting, investigating, and recovery)
  • High-risk populations (runaway, missing from care, and special needs)
  • Sexual exploitation (offenders, trackers, and criminal provisions)

  • Peace officers and reserve law enforcement officers
