Course Description

Hydrogren Sulfide signThe Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Refresher course provides credentialed instructors with updated information specific to this hazardous gas. Once the refresher course is completed, participants will have met all requirements necessary to retain their H2S instructor credential.


OSHA Certification/Licensing Requirement

Participants must show evidence of completion of the TEEX Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Instructor Development (PRT106) course within the last three years prior to registering for this course. 

This prerequisite may be accomplished by uploading a copy of the documents during registration using the TEEX Student Portal. Once received and approved, the participant will be notified by email they have met all prerequisites and have been added to the class roster. All documentation is due at least 14 business days prior to the start of class.

Course Completion Requirements

Participant Must Provide

  • a photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.

Upon successful completion, you will be able to:

  •   Incorporate adult learning principles into H2S site-specific training.
  •   Describe H2S key terms and regulations.
  •   Explain the properties of hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
  •   Explain basic safe work practices for safely handling H2S.
  •   Describe the characteristics of burning and flaring hydrogen sulfide.
  •   Describe detection and monitoring of H2S.
  •   Describe emergency response procedures regarding H2S.

Suggested Audience

This course is designed for environmental, health, and safety professionals responsible for the training of on-site personnel who could potentially be exposed to hydrogen sulfide.
