Course Description
The Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Instructor Development course provides qualified candidate instructors with crucial knowledge surrounding the delivery of H2S training. During training participants not only receive delivery techniques from seasoned professionals, each is provided with updated technical information as well. Once training is completed, candidate instructors will have the ability to explain the hazards associated with H2S and describe how federal and state H2S regulatory standards along with other established industry criteria link together to reduce the potential of exposure and risks involved with H2S. Candidate instructors will also practice the delivery of assigned sections during class covering various areas of expertise to include, petroleum and natural gas industries, utilities, research and development, laboratories, transportation, paper/pulp/food processing, chemical manufacturing, leather tanning, waste disposal.

Course Completion Requirements
Participant Must Provide
- a photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Incorporate adult learning principles into H2S site-specific training.
- Design training plans for delivering H2S training.
- Describe H2S key terms and regulations.
- Explain the properties of hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
- Explain the sources of H2S.
- Describe detection and monitoring of H2S.
- Explain basic safe work practices for safely handling H2S.
- Describe emergency response procedures regarding H2S.
