Course Description
The Vehicle Rescue I course is designed to train responders in the knowledge and skills to prepare a firefighter to extricate victim(s) from a common passenger vehicle in a safe and effective manner in accordance with AHJ policies and procedures. The course includes classroom lectures and extensive hands-on training. The course mainly focuses on incident command, vehicle construction, lifting and stabilization, and equipment operations. Scenarios such as vehicles off of their wheels, entrapments, multiple vehicles, and extrication operations will be covered in this course.
Successful completion of this course will make you eligible for certification to Vehicle Rescue Technician I through the State Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association (SFFMA).
This Vehicle Rescue course meets or exceeds the requirements for NFPA 1006 Standards for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualification, Vehicle Rescuer- Leve I.

There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Completion Requirements
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- You will need to bring your own 5 PPE compliant with the TEEX Student Safety
Manual. - All students are required to follow the TEEX Student Safety
Manual at all times.
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion.
