Course Description

This course provides attendees an overview of the operation of a water tender fire apparatus and the shuttling of water for firefighting operations. Field exercises include water shuttles, portable tank set up, fill and dump site operations, drafting and supplying water from static sources and relay pumping techniques. This course is recommended for departments that depend on mobile water supply for firefighting operations. Field exercises are designed around the requesting department(s) apparatus and assisting mutual aid units.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

Participants Must Provide

  • a photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
  • PPE must be NFPA-approved. See the Student Safety Manual to review PPE requirements for level. 
  • Laptop or tablet to view student manual and exercises. 

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed

Other Information

Due to the complexity of the field exercises the instructor cadre will send out a pre-course equipment list to the area department attending.  The field exercise will be designed around the available equipment, draft and dump tank site locations.
