Course Description

Discover the challenges presented by Lithium-Ion (Li) batteries, electrified transportation, and energy storage systems. 

This course will present a short history on how Li batteries function, the risk of thermal runaway, why Li fires are so difficult to put out, resources available to responders, concerns for towing companies and battery recycling facilities, and provide tools on how to protect yourself and the public.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

Participant Must Provide

  • A photo identification on the first day of class.  See the TEEX Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines. 
  • PPE must be NFA-approved.  See the Student Safety Manual to review PPE requirements for level. 
  • Laptop or tablet to view student manual and exercises. 

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed
