Public Safety Wellness Counseling Program

Program Overview

TEEX Public Safety Wellness offers a graduate internship program for students who are looking to satisfy requirements in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family counseling, and career counseling in a graduate program at an accredited university. Graduate Counseling Interns are considered volunteers of TEEX, but activities are designed to fulfill a broad range of para-professional hours for fieldwork or internship requirements of master’s and doctoral degree programs. Graduate Student Interns will have special interests in working with clients from a public safety field such as law enforcement, fire, EMS, rescue personnel and victim services. However, TEEX intern duties will also range between learning and understanding academic and career counseling as well as teaching in Student Development courses. The intern will work under direct supervision of a fully licensed mental health professional that has expertise in the areas described. The counseling internship is an unpaid internship.
