TEEX Strategic Plan

Fiscal Year 2025-2029

Who We Are

The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is an internationally recognized leader in emergency response training, workforce training and technical assistance. Major TEEX programs include Fire and Emergency Services, Infrastructure and Safety, Law Enforcement and Protective Services and Business and Cyber Solutions. Additionally, through its National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center (NERRTC), TEEX provides federally funded homeland security training and technical assistance for communities across the nation. Beyond training and technical assistance, the agency also sponsors the statewide disaster response teams known as Texas A&M Task Force and Texas A&M Public Works Response Team.

Our mission is to make a difference by providing training, developing practical solutions and saving lives. As a member of The Texas A&M University System, TEEX has access to a wide range of emerging research and technical expertise. Through innovative programs and adaptive outreach, TEEX develops the workforce and trains firefighters, law enforcement personnel, utility workers, emergency medical technicians, cybersecurity personnel, school staff, government officials and others to protect lives and property.

Our priorities and objectives fall under the three core principles guiding the mission of the Texas A&M University System, as found in the 2016-2021 Strategic Plan. The following core principles and their definitions come from the Texas A&M University System’s Strategic Plan:

Excellence

We will pursue excellence in education by preparing our students for long-term success. We will pursue excellence in service by aligning our offerings to the specific needs of Texas and by delivering high-quality training.

Impact

We will aim not just for excellence, but for impact. Our participants contribute to the growth of our economy and the preparedness of communities. We will have a lasting impact on Texas, the nation, and the world by delivering services to meet the needs of local and regional communities.

Access & Affordability

We are committed to providing high-quality education at a reasonable price to remain accessible to the people of Texas. We will leverage innovative technology and our physical presence in all counties of Texas to make training and services widely available to the people and organizations of Texas.

Our Imperatives

Our vision is to become the provider of choice for preparedness training, technical assistance and response assistance. Over the next five years, TEEX is committed to focusing on five key imperatives to make this vision a reality:

These imperatives align with The Texas A&M University System’s imperative to provide services that respond to the needs of the people of Texas, contribute to the strength of the state’s economy and remain affordable and accessible.

The TEEX mission and vision demonstrate TEEX’s commitment to the Texas A&M University System’s Land Grant mission to serve the state of Texas. As part of this, TEEX provides training and service opportunities that empower individuals to build their futures and improve the resilience of their communities. These efforts prepare communities and boost their economic competitiveness.
