Chris Greene and Andy Allison: Residential Energy Hazards
The energy hazards associated with a residential house fire can be complex and lethal.  Therefore, it is essential to develop training specific to the energy hazards in today’s homes. This session will demonstrate how to identify energy hazard indicators and respond proactively, and Andy Allison will tell the story of how he was electrocuted during overhaul of a home that was misidentified as “de-energized.” Energy hazard training in this field can help prevent such tragedies in the future.  
Chris Greene retired as a captain of the Seattle Fire Department in 2023. He developed Seattle’s Energy Response Program, and he worked with Seattle City Light to create the nation’s first energy response specialty technical team, which addresses energy emergencies in Seattle.
Andy Allison is a retired firefighter from the Lewisville Fire Department in Lewisville, Texas. In 2012, he responded to a structure fire and was electrocuted. Despite severe injuries, Allison has overcome these challenges and continues to serve his community. His story is a testament to his resilience and commitment.

Sean DeCrane: Research into Fire Service Response to Residential ESS
This session will provide an overview of two recent research projects that investigated ESS involvement in residential fires and the severity of explosion hazards. Attendees will benefit from hearing lessons learned and the Fire Service Tactical Considerations developed. 
Sean DeCrane has been involved with research at Underwriters Laboratories and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where he focuses on firefighter tactical operations and the firefighter work environment. He retired from the Cleveland Division of Fire after more than 25 years.
