Course Description

Portable fire extinguishers serve as a front-line tool for incipient stage fires.  This course offers 4 CE hours covering portable fire extinguisher types, classifications, and ratings.  As well as selection, use, inspection, care and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers.  This course offers an interactive practice session and a module quiz based off IFSTA Essentials of Firefighting 7th edition. This course satisfies: NFPA 1001 4.3.16


There are no prerequisites for this course.

Students are expected to use the Essentials of Firefighting, 7th Edition Manual

  • 3. Describe the process of selecting and using a portable fire extinguisher.
