Course Description
The Level 4 Electric Power Lineworker Apprenticeship Program course is designed to provide participants with the advanced knowledge and skills of utility work. Topics covered will include emergency rubber gloving procedures, OSHA 10-Hour Construction for ET&D, troubleshooting overhead and underground systems, and essentials of leadership.
Prerequisites
IMPORTANT: To register for this apprenticeship program, potential participants must be affiliated with an electric company, cooperative, or contractor. Proof of affiliation is required before registration can be completed.
TEEX Certification/Licensing Requirement
Participants must provide evidence of completion of the TEEX Level 1 (EPP111), Level 2 (EPP211), and Level 3 (EPP311) Electric Power Lineworker Apprenticeship Program courses or equivalent training listed below. This prerequisite may be accomplished by uploading a copy of the documents during registration using the TEEX Student Portal. Once received and approved, the participant will be notified by email they have met all prerequisites and have been added to the class roster. All documentation is due at least 14 business days prior to the start of class.
Course Completion Requirements
Participant Must Provide
- Climbers
- Body belt
- Personal fall arrest system with a secondary safety device
- Climbing boots
- Hard hat
- Safety glasses
- Rubber gloves with protectors
- Work gloves
- Long-sleeved shirt
- A photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate emergency live-line repairs on an overhead distribution system using personal protective equipment and hot-line tools and equipment.
- Perform troubleshooting methods on overhead and underground utility systems.
- Implement real-world leadership concepts to their own organizations.
Suggested Audience
This course is designed for electric power personnel who are seeking completion of the third year of the 4-year apprenticeship training program.
