Course Description
New course coming soon! Court security officers are responsible for protecting the judicial process at the courthouse while maintaining the safety and security of the court family and public. To ensure infrastructure and persons are protected, they must employ security practices while utilizing available equipment, technologies, and reporting processes in planning high risk/high profile trial events. To qualify for a Court Security Specialist Certificate, an applicant must meet all proficiency requirements per Texas Administrative Code Title 37, Part 7, Chapter 221 and Rule 221.41 as well as complete the blended-learning course.
The online course consists of eleven learning modules. Prior to accessing the course, the participant is provided with an opportunity to download a study guide in an effort to enhance the retention of important course information. After all modules have been completed, the participant will receive a comprehensive final exam. All examinations must be passed with a minimum score of 80%. Participants have three attempts to pass each module exam and one attempt to pass the final exam. Module quizzes and the final examination can only be done in a single seating. Module quizzes and the final examination should not be started while on duty and/or if the participant may be called away from the computer for any reason.
Participants are also required to complete the 16 hour Court Security Specialist Practical Applications course in order to meet all requirements to receive a Court Security Specialist Certificate. A list and location of those scheduled courses will be provided upon successful completion of the online portion of the Court Security Specialist course.
This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements Court Security Specialist Course #21001, 21002, 21003, 21004, and 21005.

- The mandatory completion/duration period for this eCourse is 60 days from the registration date.
- To complete this course, you are required to have a computer with internet access.
