Course Description

Backhoe EquipmentThe Introduction to Backhoe Operation course provides entry-level operators with instruction on the proper operation of a backhoe and/or loader. Traditional classroom training provides participants with safe work practices, an understanding of machine mechanical systems, and operational techniques. Hands-on exercises utilizing the TEEX Heavy Equipment Field provide students with operational skills development designed to ensure proper use of the equipment.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

Participant must provide:

  • Hard hat
  • Steel-toed footwear
  • Gloves
  • Visibility safety vest
  • A photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.

Attendance Requirements

Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed

Suggested Audience

This course is designed for personnel just beginning their career as a backhoe-loader operator, or the participant with limited experience. This course is also recommended for use as a refresher for more experienced operators.
