Course Description

Prerequisites

Incident Command System ICS-100 and ICS-200. 

Preferred courses are Q0462 and Q0463, available through NFAOnline.

Course Completion Requirements

Participants Must Provide

A photo identification on the first day of class. See the TEEX ParticipantHandbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.

Laptop or tablet to view student manual and exercises. 

Attendance Requirements

To meet NFA attendance requirements, participants must complete each training module and successfully complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and pass the end of course exam to receive course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional requirements.

Upon successful completion, you will be able to:

• Students will define the adaptive leadership model and how the model relates to holding an authority role and exercising leadership.
• Both adaptive and technical challenges will be examined in order to develop understanding of the differences between them, along with a discussion of disequilibrium as a necessary element in accomplishing adaptive change.
• Definitions of community, diversity and dynamic situations.
• A spotlight will be focused on recognizing the existence of differences within a community, understanding the challenges that arise and produce conflict, and identifying desired outcomes as a component of exercising leadership to address the challenge.

Suggested Audience

The target audience for all of the executive skills series courses consists of fire and emergency service personnel in positions of authority who have an opportunity to exercise leadership. At a minimum, the students should be assigned to supervisory level position, such as Company Officer (CO). 

Continuing Education And Professional Credits

• 14.00 hours – State Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas (SFFMA)
• 14.00 hours – Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP)
