Course Description
**PLEASE NOTE** This course has been approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to fulfill 20 credit hours in the following operator license area(s):
– Wastewater Operator License
– Water Operator License
The Water Utilities Calculations course provides participants with fundamentals surrounding the determination of flow level formulas, area and volume calculations, as well as water and wastewater treatment plant calculations. During the course, students are led through the basic steps required to determine these calculations and apply each to an overall system protocol linked to best practices reporting.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Completion Requirements
Participant Must Provide
- Simple calculator with square root function.
- A photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirements, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Calculate area, volume, and capacity of water and wastewater structures.
- Calculate amount of materials used in water and wastewater treatment.
- Calculate mathematical problems specific to flow and water pressure.
- Calculate mathematical problems specific to pipe flow and replacement.
- Calculate mathematical problems related to pumps and motors.
- Calculate mathematical problems specific to wastewater systems.
- Calculate mathematical problems specific to water systems.
- Calculate mathematical problems typically performed in water or wastewater laboratory operations.
