Course Description

The Emergency Vehicle Response Safety Program is a multicomponent program designed to be all Emergency Service Organizations. Officers’ benefits will include not only obtaining knowledge of the components in selecting and training emergency vehicle operations but also an understanding of their exposures and potential liability. Vehicle Operators benefits for both existing driver as well as potential drivers include obtaining an understanding of fire principal areas of concerns while operating an emergency vehicle.

  2. Civilian Drivers Yielding the Right of Way 
  3. Intersection Crossing Procedures 
  4. Red Lights & Sirens Uses and Misuses
  5. Operator Awareness

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Completion Requirements

Participants Must Provide

A photo identification on the first day of class. See theTEEX Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and guidelines.

PPE must be NFPA-approved.See the Student Safety Manual to review PPE requirements for level. 

Laptop or tablet to view student manual and exercises. 

Attendance Requirements

This course requires participants to attend a minimum of 80% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. The participants must complete each training module and successfully complete all required course assignments, activities, quizzes, and/or pass the end of course exam to receive course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional requirements.

Upon successful completion, you will be able to:

  • Understand the civil, criminal, and punitive aspects of operating an emergency vehicle.
  • Define the legal terms associated in emergency vehicle operations.
  • Identify the five critical areas essential for emergency vehicle response.

Emergency Vehicle Operators. Ambulance Service Owners, Managers, Supervisors, Training Officers, Fire Chiefs, State EMS Training Directors, and Medical Directors.
