COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is hosting its second annual Cyber Readiness Summit on April 1-3, 2025, at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center in San Marcos, Texas. The summit is specifically designed for businesses, manufacturers, cities and counties, school districts, emergency services, electric power plants, water and wastewater facilities, and healthcare systems.

“Cybersecurity attacks have become a common occurrence. Recent high-profile cyberattacks, in the healthcare industry and those impacting cities and counties, emphasize the need for a robust cyber preparedness program,” said Dr. Bart Taylor, TEEX’s cybersecurity training manager. “The summit will offer essential insights and practical tools to strengthen your organization’s cybersecurity posture against evolving cyber threats.”

The three-day summit features experts who specialize in making complex topics accessible and relevant to individuals responsible for protecting their businesses or organizations from cyberattacks. The summit will provide engaging talks, interactive sessions and workshops to teach participants how to protect, detect and recover from the evolving landscape of cybersecurity incidents. Additionally, the summit will feature topics covering all components of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover.

Summit keynote speakers are Bruno Beraldo Rodrigues, of the Google Cloud Team, and Mary Kate Howard, enterprise security operations program manager at Hewlett-Packard, Inc. A panel discussion features chief information security officers representing the Texas A&M University System and Brazos County. Breakout session speakers include experts from GEICO, Lockheed Martin, MIT, the University of Georgia and TEEX, among others.

The session topics include: “Managing the Intricate Landscape of Cybersecurity Regulations,” “Security Metrics in Government,” “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Cyber,” “Ethics in AI,” “Cyber Resiliency in 911 Emergency Services,” and “Selling Cybersecurity to Executives,” among others. Four workshop options include cybersecurity tool demonstrations, a cybersecurity tabletop exercise, AI and threat actor demonstrations, and a cyber-ready community game.
