In today’s world, government and community leaders face unique responsibilities in comprehensive emergency preparedness and effective response. Community Resilience for Senior Leaders courses have been designed specifically to meet the needs of the nation’s elected and appointed officials, as well as jurisdictional-level executives responsible for emergency preparedness and response operations within their communities. Using seminar and classroom-based instruction, courses focus on awareness, management and planning to provide first response agency officials with the tools to prepare for, and deal effectively, with a wide variety of emergency situations. The comprehensive list of topics takes officials from pre-crisis to recovery, addressing issues such as preparedness planning and its challenges, roles and responsibilities, risk management, recovery operations, improvement strategies and community resilience. Courses also address communication skills such as public communication in a crisis and multi-agency coordination.
