The National Incident Management System provides a framework to prepare and assist emergency responders in both local and state jurisdictions to better protect their communities. Aimed at personnel serving in a management or supervisory capacity, incident management and response courses address training needed within the emergency management community. Training funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is available, as well as fee-based courses. States, territories, tribes and local jurisdictions can select customized incident management training to assist in their individual NIMS efforts to incorporate all organizations including private sector emergency hospitals and special facilities such as industrial plants, military facilities, stadiums and arenas. Training levels range from introduction to ICS and NIMS training to advanced jurisdictional planning. Skills and exercises courses also are available. More than 150 National Fire Academy NIMS-ICS/Terrorism programs are delivered to departments across Texas annually.
