During a disaster, lives depend on emergency and first responders being capable of reacting to different hazardous material incidents and being able to perform wide-area search operations. Haz-Mat and Search and Rescue Response courses are designed to meet training requirements for emergency responders from law enforcement, fire service and emergency management, including emergency responders from public and private agencies that conduct searches after a natural disaster or terrorist incident. Hazardous materials response courses focus on the special challenges of dealing with weapons of mass destruction or a terrorist incident, including knowledge of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive events and responses to incidents involving CBRNE materials. The search and rescue course is designed to equip jurisdictions to be capable of effectively developing, managing and conducting a wide-area search following a natural disaster or terrorist incident.
