Texas Private Security

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Private Security Program regulates the private security profession in Texas. The private security profession includes armed and unarmed security guards, personal protection officers, private investigators, alarm systems installers and monitors, armored car couriers, electronic access control device installers, and locksmiths. DPS regulates the private security profession under the authority of the Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 1702 and related administrative rules.

TEEX is licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Private Security Program as a Class F, Class Y, and Class O Training School.

Only those courses listed below and for which you receive a TEEX-issued DPS certificate with the Class F, Class Y, or Class O designation shown are eligible for submission to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Private Security Program at this time. If you did not receive your certificate with the Class F, Class Y, or Class O designation, or if there is another course you would like to have considered for credit submission, please contact TEEX via email at [email protected] with your inquiry.
