The TEEX Utilities Program offers both electric power and telecommunications courses to industry professionals. Available training for private sector organizations, county, and local agencies covers not only industry fundamentals but also advanced training topics. Training areas covered range from fiber optics, cable splicing, telephony, and the deployment of telecom services to customized technical training covering safety, the use of electrical power equipment and several online training options. Specialized training specific to disaster management for electric power systems and leadership programs are also available.

The TEEX Lineworker Academy is a comprehensive pre-employment training experience for individuals seeking a career in the utilities industry. The Academy is a 480-hour program delivered over a 15-week period utilizing traditional classroom instruction combined with practical field exercises followed by required skills testing.

Electric Power Lineworker Apprenticeship Program

The TEEX Electric Power Lineworker Apprenticeship Program is a four-year plug-and-play training system for organizations involved with a Department of Labor (DOL) Apprenticeship. It is an excellent way to reach your 144 hours required by a DOL Program.

The Lineworker Academy at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is designed to provide to students a comprehensive training experience utilizing the best work methods, equipment, tools, and standards. The Academy offers classroom and hands-on field training with a real-world approach delivered by high-quality curriculum, experienced instructors, and specialized equipment and facilities. Upon completion of the Academy, students will be qualified in equipment operation and pole climbing. They will receive their Basic First Aid and CPR Certification, their OSHA 10-Hour ET&D Construction Card, and be eligible to apply for their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The Tower Technician Level One course answers the need for qualified technicians with comprehensive cutting edge technical training provided to participants with an interest in the industry. This VA Education Benefits Eligible course gives you a challenging two-week, 88-hour learning experience. In addition to traditional classroom training, each participant has the opportunity to engage in multiple field exercises and other hands-on training scenarios; all followed by scenario testing used to determine student comprehension.
