TCOLE Licensing Courses

TEEX offers several online Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) licensing courses. Effective May 5, 2025 individuals will be required to self-register online for TCOLE licensing courses following the streamlined three-step process:

Register for the course via direct link.
Upload prerequisite documentation directly to your myTEEX Student Portal account.
Pay for the course by credit card or by eToken.

This system streamlines the registration process by offering:

24/7 payment access that is not limited by TEEX business hours
Centralized access to training history and course certificates following course completion

Basic County Corrections

This course is designed to prepare participants to receive their TCOLE Basic Jailer License. After completing the online course, participants must complete the 24-hour physical skills course.

FAQs

Participants registering for a class delivered online must self-register through the myTEEX Student Portal.

Participants must upload the fully executed document through the myTEEX Student Portal. Participants must self-submit the document through their myTEEX Student Portal account. No DOLCEE Forms will be accepted by email.

For Basic County Corrections (LET305) and Basic Jail Certification for Texas Peace Officers (LET309) the employing agency must match the information on the DOLCEE Form and the myTEEX Student Portal account information.

A fully executed DOLCEE Form has all fields populated correctly with the hiring agency administrator section filled out and signed by the agency head or designee as specified on the form. The applicant signature section information must exactly match the participant’s name.

The DOLCEE Form must be fully and completely notarized in both the hiring agency administrator section and the applicant signature section. TEEX requires that the notary date must be within 30 days of the upload date.

Your enrollment period within the course starts at the time that payment (or an eToken is used) which is referred to as your registration date. This date is automatically calculated and assigned based on the course completion requirements specified for each course.

No. Participants must self-register for a class delivered online through the myTEEX Student Portal.

Agencies have two payment options:

Credit card: An agency can provide their employee with agency credit card information details to complete course registration.
eToken: An eToken is a form of payment for eLearning courses that allows a student to use a pre-paid payment code rather than a credit card. eTokens are purchased by an agency representative through a purchase order.

Yes, agencies can use a purchase order to buy one or more eTokens in a single purchase.

All purchase orders must contain the following information:

Agency or company name
Agency or company billing address
Contact name and phone number
Description of goods and/or services provided (this includes the course name and course number (preferred); for example Basic County Corrections (LET305)).
Amount of charges
Authorized signature
Tax payer ID, EIN, or FEIN

Yes, eTokens can be purchased in any quantity desired by an agency.

Yes, agencies can provide eTokens to their personnel when needed.

No, eTokens are issued for a single, specific course.

Yes, eTokens are valid for 6 months from the date the purchase is processed and the eToken is issued. Consideration should be given at the time of purchase to how many eTokens the agency will need within the allotted six-month time period.

Yes, there are no transfers or refunds available for unused eTokens.

When receiving purchase orders for eTokens, TEEX will process the payment and return a copy of the confirmation notes to the agency point of contact containing the eToken numbers. The purchase confirmation details will also list the eToken expiration date when returned to the agency.

No, TEEX will not be sending eToken details directly to students. Students will be directed to contact their agency point of contact for assistance.

Agencies will need to designate an internal point of contact for maintaining the tracking and use of their purchased eTokens. The point of contact will be required to provide their employee with the eToken number so that the individual can enter the information to complete the TEEX enrollment process.
