Course Description
The Permit-Required Confined Space Entry (OSHA #2264) course covers the safety and health hazards associated with permit-required confined space entry. Course topics include recognition of confined space hazards, identification of permit and non-permit required confined spaces, use of instrumentation to evaluate atmospheric hazards, ventilation techniques, development and implementation of a confined space program, proper signage, and training requirements. This course features workshops on permit entry classification, instrumentation, and program development. Upon course completion, students will have the ability to identify permit and non-permit required confined spaces, reference the OSHA Permit-Required Confined Spaces Standard, conduct atmospheric testing, and implement a permit-required confined space program.
NOTE: This course is taught in English.
Prerequisites

Course Completion Requirements
Participant Must Provide
- a photo identification on the first day of class. See the Participant Handbook for approved forms of identification and additional guidelines.
Attendance Requirements
TEEX and the OSHA Training Institute (OTI) have an attendance policy that requires participants to fully attend an enrolled class in its entirety (100% of the course). We realize that extenuating circumstances may arise that would take a participant out of class and have a policy to handle those situations. If a participant misses less than 20% of the class, he/she may be able to perform makeup work equivalent to the class time missed. If 20% or more of the class is missed, the participant may attend a makeup course upon approval by TEEX’s OTI Education Center Director.
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- Classify PRCS hazards.
- Determine PRCS hazard controls.
- Apply air monitoring procedures.
- Evaluate PRCS program elements.
- Explain 29 CFR 1926 Subpart AA.
- Apply all PRCS elements learned in this course to draft a PRCS program.
Suggested Audience
This course is designed for safety and health professionals, inspectors, auditors, personnel responsible for writing, auditing, or training employees with an active role in permit space entry, as well as personnel required to understand OSHA’s policies on permit-required confined spaces.
