Code Enforcement

The TEEX Code Enforcement Program provides both basic and advanced training to industry professionals covering the proper administration of local programs using best practices and guidelines established by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Training covering a range of information includes; housing, construction, property maintenance, occupancy levels, and both electrical and fire safety. Zoning codes and proper signage regulations covering agricultural, residential and industrial zones is also included. Training also covers the proper documentation of violations, collection of evidence, interviewing, photography, and courtroom testimony. Officials requiring advanced code enforcement training receive program management techniques and the development of budgeting and strategic planning guidance.

Basic Code EnforcementCOD300Basic Code Enforcement
The Basic Code Enforcement course provides training designed to prepare students for final proficiency testing through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). During the course, participants cover topics to include constitutional protections as well as authority granted by Texas law, procedural information surrounding the proper administration of local code compliance programs and best practice guidelines. Training covering a range of topics includes; housing, construction, property maintenance, occupancy levels, and both electrical and fire safety. Zoning codes and proper signage regulations covering agricultural, residential and industrial zones are also included. Once the course is completed participants will have met education all requirements necessary to sit for the State of Texas Code Enforcement Officer examination. Information specific to Code Enforcement state testing requirements and associated Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) fees can be found on the TDLR website.IMPORTANT NOTE: This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements for Course 3880 only for Face-to-Face classes. Currently, Live, Online Instructor-Led classes are NOT approved for TCOLE Credit. Show less

The Code Enforcement II course provides advanced-level training designed to prepare officers for final proficiency testing through the Code Enforcement Association of Texas (CEAT). Training covering a range of information includes a review of housing, construction, property maintenance, occupancy levels, and both electrical and fire safety codes. Additional focus is placed on zoning codes and proper signage regulations covering agricultural, residential, and industrial zones. Specialized guidance is provided to officers specific to compliance program management techniques, the development of budgeting and strategic planning, as well as the importance surrounding productive interactions with citizens, media and councils/commissions/boards in a public setting. Upon completion of the course, a final examination will be administered by a CEAT representative. Participants who have not yet submitted CEAT testing fee payments can do so either the day of the examination or through information found on the CEAT website. Show less

The International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) course provides training designed to prepare municipal and county code officials for final proficiency testing through the International Code Council (ICC). During the course, participants receive specialized training focused on the development, maintenance, and continuing sustainability of property using the tools and resources established through the IPMC. Students are also provided with an in-depth understanding of all minimum standards regulations necessary to maintain quality of life specific to structures and property. The IPMC, established by the International Code Council (ICC), has been adopted throughout the United States and internationally. Once the course is completed participants will have met all requirements necessary to schedule and sit for final certification testing arranged through ICC. All exam fees associated with certification testing are collected by ICC once a testing date is arranged. Show less
