The Master Law Enforcement Instructor Certificate is designed to give graduates a recognized credential that can translate into greater recognition within their respective field. After completing three required courses and three elective courses, graduates will have an understanding of multiple foundational and specialty instructor-level courses.

Once all courses have been completed, applicants should confirm they meet all certificate requirements using the Master Law Enforcement Instructor Application and return it to the TEEX Law Enforcement & Protective Services Excellence division. Eligibility of each candidate will be reviewed and email notification of decision will be sent.

Note: TEEX will only accept the Basic Instructor Development (#1014) from another training provider. If you are citing Basic Instructor Development (#1014) from another provider, please provide your certificate of successful completion and TCOLE training record with your application. TEEX will review your course equivalency request and make a determination on a case-by-case basis. No substitutions will be accepted for Advanced Instructor Development or Reality Based Training Instructor or any of the elective courses.

Properly operating an emergency vehicle is critical for officer and public safety, as well as, agency liability reduction. This course is designed to train experienced instructors to deliver the Emergency Vehicle Operators course (EVOC) to their peers. This class is a realistic, high-stress, driving program that offers the participant 40 hours of actual driving time. The course curriculum was designed with input from the Texas Municipal League – Intergovernmental Risk Pool (TML_IRP) training and risk reduction staff.

The goal of all police work is to protect the lives, property, safety, and well-being of the public. Traffic law enforcement is no exception. Research shows that excessive speed is a major contributing factor to motor vehicle crashes. Further, excessive speed increases the severity of the crashes that do occur.
RADAR is an important and effective means of accurately establishing vehicle speed. In recent decades, RADAR technology has been advanced significantly. Its cost-effectiveness has continued to improve as well. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) believes that police traffic RADAR is an effective enforcement tool. Police traffic RADAR provides a means of increasing enforcement effectiveness and permits police administrators to make better use of scarce personnel and costly fuel.
The overall goal of this course is to improve the effectiveness of speed enforcement through the proper and efficient use of police traffic RADAR speed measurement instruments. Every officer who successfully completed this course will become a better instructor and enforcer of the traffic laws governing vehicle speed.

Knowing how to shoot well is an important requirement for police firearms instructors, but they must also know how to teach others to shoot and handle firearms.
