Future physicians get hands-on disaster medicine training at Disaster City

Sixteen fourth-year medical students saw a new side of emergency medicine in a weeklong class at Disaster City® that pushed them out of their comfort zone and gave them a new perspective on treating disaster victims with limited resources.

Saunders named Director of Texas Task Force 1

Texas Task Force 1 Operations Chief Jeff Saunders has been named Director of the statewide urban search and rescue team. Sponsored by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), the team can be activated by the governor through the Texas Division of Emergency Management or as one of FEMA’s 28 sanctioned urban search and rescue teams.
